We also bought a new fan recently. it is so great. if you are thinking about getting a fan, go get the bionair one from costco. it is so quiet and so great. that's really just a side note because I just turned it on before starting this post, but it's mildly baby related because the rest of the world seems to think it's still cold, but I'm hot!
I shall not say too much about the bachelorette party because, well, it was a bachelorette party! We went canoeing at UW, wine tasting at two local wineries (right near Willows where Blake and I were married), and then the night's true festivities began. We slumber partied back at my place... probably the last slumber party I'll host for a very long time.
In fact, yesterday, Brianne and Danielle came over and adopted one of our futons. it had to go to make way for the cribs (and I'm so glad I didn't have to deal w/ craigslisting it) but it was also sad. once upon a time when blake lived with Caleb they would always have guests over (most often Anders) and they had NO furniture. as in, I think the only thing they had in their living room was the papasan (yes the same red one we currently have) that I'd given Blake. So I bought them a futon and they liked and used it so much that I bought myself the same one a little while later. So we've prob had those futons at least 6 years and they've been so great. Brianne has slept on one or the other many times (we live RIGHT near where she works so she visits us for naps, snowstorms, etc), Darren and Evan have both camped out on them numerous times, Jeff lived w/ us for a month or so... they've seen a lot of love. We did keep the red one, but it was still crazy to see the white one go...
In the realm of new furniture however - we ordered our chair! I will not tell you how much it cost, because it was ridiculous. but I fell in love with this chair in January and I have watched sales, and checked prices at so many locations (including on this last trip down, we checked prices in Oregon and CA) and finally we just ordered it. blake and I agreed it would be our one baby-splurge. It's very custom - and because of that it takes 12-14 weeks and we have less than 12 weeks now so we were getting a little like, oh, we'd better stop talking about this chair and actually buy it. SO, wonder of all wonders, I found an auction selling gift certificates for one of the local stores that sells this chair. they didn't have the cheapest price on the chair, but I called and yes they would price match, and yes, they would give us the twin discount on top of that. So I bid on the gift certificates, got both of them, and on Sunday blake and I went in and placed the order! my little gift certificate move plus the twin discount saved us about $350 so I feel much better about the price now! plus, the store we bought it from said that it was likely it would come in mid-July, and if it doesn't they would give us a loaner chair! so that's excellent.
what else to say... oh yes, my first stretch marks are here. my skin has been really itchy and tender in a few spots and now those spots have little stretch marks. so now I know, itchy and tender = stretch marks coming! which is really too bad, as a lot of my skin is becoming itchy and stretchy... my rings have also been stored safely away. I was going to try and wear them the whole time, but my finger was getting really uncomfortable so for a week I just wore the engagement ring and then I woke up one morning and my finger was all swollen and it was really hard to get off so it joined the wedding band in a box. so sad.
on the happy side however, I have another shower tomorrow morning! it's my work shower and I know there will be brunch type food, but that's pretty much all I know! I have taken the first step at answering the "will I keep working" question and I told the staff on Monday of this week, which is pretty crazy! Right now I have three jobs: 5 hrs/wk for the Communications Dept, 25 hrs/wk for HR, and 4-7 hrs of tutoring each week. I'm going to keep my communications hours, reduce my HR hours to 10 hrs/wk, and I'll keep all my current students except those who are graduating, which should leave me with 4 students for next year if they all come back! I am hoping this will give me lots of time w/ the babies, but also a little adult interaction (plus a very small paycheck). so that's the plan! it's subject to change because I know I can't know how I'll really feel until I'm feeling it, but that's the plan for now!
that's about it for now! my bday's on Monday and it's a holiday, so that's fun too! next ultrasound is a week from tomorrow. :)
Which chair did you end up going with? I am sooo happy with my ridiculously expensive chair; I hope you LOVE yours!
ReplyDeleteOn the stretch mark note, try the Mederma stretch mark therapy ASAP. I didn't hear about it until now, and some of mine have already got that silvery appearance that they say it's harder to make them fade once that happens. But the newer they are, the better it works. I'm trying it on the ones that are still a little red. :)
