Orcas Island

Thanks a million zillion to our parents who babysat for us two weekends ago while blake and I took a little trip. While we were obviously looking forward to the trip, I think we enjoyed the time with just us far more than we thought we would. We love our kids SO much, but a little time to be just a couple again, without somebody asking for "more milk?" much less crying etc, was... just great.

the good camera is getting fixed again, so we took the old camera. but here's a bit of our trip.

when the tide is really low you can walk (w/o getting wet) to that island (Indian Island). so we asked when low tide was. noon we were told. so we got out there at 11am. not walkable. 11:30 - nope, still wet. 11:45... well, apparently this is as good as we're getting today, so we just walked there anyway! the water got almost up to our knees, but not quite. and we didn't slip and fall into the water either. :)

then we went paddle-boating around cascade lake.

We have our favorite things to do on Orcas. Indian Island, paddle-boating, Mt Constitution (and this time we did not hit a deer on our way down the mountain, so that was good). But usually we camp. This time we stayed at a B&B. While we weren't missing the freezing at night part, we missed the campfire part. So we bought supplies and had campfire food for dinner anyway!

nom nom nom. smores! this time we went for pepperidge farm cookies w/ chocolate already on them (and nuts) and marshmallows of course. we also bought a small banana and added slices of banana to some of our smores. some of them were a little crazy, but tehy were all delicious.

eventually, it was time to go back home. time for one last game on the ferry ride though...

that was our trip! thanks again to our parents for making it possible. we had such a great time. :)
