the other twins are my friend audria's kiddos ben and claire. they're two months older than ethan & kaylee.

triathlon

in case you were wondering, we are awesome. "we" in this case, refers to blake, myself, brianne, elise (blake's cousin), and heidi (blake's mom).

check out our awesome-ness below.

apparently we were showing the numbers on our arms... blake missed the roll-up-your-sleve memo, and I missed the memo that we weren't also showing how incredibly buff we are. ;)

anyways, it's a post-triathlon picture. My times weren't awesome, and I fell off my bike, which is particularly hard to do on an indoor triathlon where your bike is attached to a trainer, but I managed to do it (okay, the trainer broke and it wasn't my fault, but it was pretty funny), but... overall, a success, because hey, we did all finish. plus we went to pogacha for lunch afterwards and I pretty much love pogacha so, a good morning for sure!

a trip to the park

it's raining right now. but for a bit there, we had some good weather, and we took the opportunity to visit some local parks as often as we could! I am really loving my new camera, but I haven't had much time to devote to learning it. Therefore, I'm pretty much just using auto mode. which is fine, except for when I think it's in auto and it's really not. Then I get a bunch of blurry pics. and when you're at the park with two kids and no other adults well... I just kept snapping blurry pics. but you can tell that the kids are having fun, and that's what's really important.

holding hands while walking from the car to the play structure.

yay! what a fun little slide, perfect for twin toddlers!

oh the swing. the swing is so much fun! and, we can still fit two of us in one baby swing!

ethan loves slides. he moved on from the toddler slide to the big kid slide. it didn't go quite as planned, but it did go slowly, so the backwards aspect wasn't a problem.

see? all better. he was going REALLY slow, using his uggs as brakes.

kaylee thought hte boucy horse thing was fun for a bit.

ethan moved on to the biggest/steepest slide. there are three slides at this park! what could be better?

up we go again...

and down we go again...

kaylee isn't quite as skilled at sliding...

but then again, neither is ethan! he returned to the steepest slide again and well... we left after this picture. there was a bit of crying upon impact - he went really fast that time! faster than either he or I expected!
overall though, a fun outing. we returned to that same park the next day and will go again as soon as the weather allows it. we're ready for spring!

Pinata Party!

My friend Jo had her daughter's first bday party during the beginning of the snow storm. When I say beginning, I mean we all left early to make sure we could get home, and then were snowed in for a week. Because everyone had to leave early, the pinata was saved for later - a bday party part 2! Jo wrote up a nice post about the party, so check it out to see a couple fun pics of K&E.

edible playdough

first a week of snow, then a week of sickness. I have been SO grateful for the babysitting the grandparents have provided! but we've still had a lot of days at home, needing something to do. so the other day I thought, I wonder if they would like playdough? we don't own any, so I scoured the internet during naptime for a playdough recipe. It needed to be edible and not contain peanut butter (who would have thought it might? not me, but I found some that did!) it also had to contain only ingredients I already had because I didn't want to take them to the grocery store and infect a grocery cart.

<< should you want to try this recipe yourself, click here. I made the jello playdough. it is mighty salty. >>

the kiddos definitely enjoyed it! see for yourself...

I sat them on stools so they could see and reach. turns out that wasn't close enough to the action, but it was a good try...

kaylee REALLY liked stirring. she just mixed and mixed and mixed those ingredients together.

kaylee's still mixing, but ethan thought that was dull.

ethan's exploring the rest of the counter top and kaylee's... still mixing.

hmm... just a bit messy...

still mixing and really happy about it! who needs to see when you're mixing anyway?

ethan, apparently, felt it could use a dash of fresh ground pepper.

mean mean mommy took it away so I could put it on the stove. kaylee still wanted to mix.

it "cooked" in like 2 minutes.

then we got to play with it while sitting on the table. this was a really exciting day. kaylee of course, just wanted to stir it some more.

I made little balls with some of the dough and they liked passing them back and forth.

ethan did eat a bit, but not much.

still mixing.

how cute is my son? so cute.

even though we were sick, we had lots of fun. might have to do that again sometime.

:)
