edible playdough

first a week of snow, then a week of sickness. I have been SO grateful for the babysitting the grandparents have provided! but we've still had a lot of days at home, needing something to do. so the other day I thought, I wonder if they would like playdough? we don't own any, so I scoured the internet during naptime for a playdough recipe. It needed to be edible and not contain peanut butter (who would have thought it might? not me, but I found some that did!) it also had to contain only ingredients I already had because I didn't want to take them to the grocery store and infect a grocery cart.

I sat them on stools so they could see and reach. turns out that wasn't close enough to the action, but it was a good try...

kaylee REALLY liked stirring. she just mixed and mixed and mixed those ingredients together.

 kaylee's still mixing, but ethan thought that was dull.

ethan's exploring the rest of the counter top and kaylee's... still mixing.

hmm... just a bit messy...

 still mixing and really happy about it! who needs to see when you're mixing anyway?

ethan, apparently, felt it could use a dash of fresh ground pepper.

 mean mean mommy took it away so I could put it on the stove. kaylee still wanted to mix.

it "cooked" in like 2 minutes.

 then we got to play with it while sitting on the table. this was a really exciting day. kaylee of course, just wanted to stir it some more.

I made little balls with some of the dough and they liked passing them back and forth.

ethan did eat a bit, but not much.

 how cute is my son? so cute.

even though we were sick, we had lots of fun. might have to do that again sometime.
